Welcome
Dear Families,
Welcome to the Montclair Community Pre-K! We look forward to having you as part of the MCPK family. Our goal is to create a compassionate community of learners, both in and outside of our classrooms. Together, we are partners in your child's education; a relationship we value greatly and will work hard to nurture. We love what we do and we can't wait to share our passionate commitment to early childhood education with your family!
At the MCPK, our school culture reflects the values and strengths of our community. In addition to providing stimulating, innovative academic instruction, our staff models kindness, patience, tolerance and social responsibility. We want our classrooms to be places where every child is respected as an individual and challenged in a way that meets his or her individual interest and needs. Children will have the opportunity to discover and develop their personal learning styles, intellectual strengths and talents.
As early childhood educators, we know that play, guided by expert teachers, is essential for cognitive, social-emotional, and language development. While children play, they are thinking, negotiating, taking risks, experimenting, exploring, making decisions, problem solving, socializing, inquiring, and more. Combining a meaningful and engaging academic curriculum with a strong social emotional curriculum, we will prepare our students for the learning which will take place in kindergarten and beyond and to create caring, self-motivated, successful members of society.

Mission
The Montclair Community Pre-K (MCPK) is dedicated to early childhood educational excellence and reflects the values, diversity and inclusiveness of our community. Our mission is to offer all three- to five-year olds in Montclair a high-quality education that prepares them for success in kindergarten and beyond, regardless of the family's ability to pay tuition. We strive to create a warm, welcoming, supportive environment for families and be a leading member of our community.
At MCPK, children are encouraged to engage their imagination, explore their world and enjoy play-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Graduates of the school enter kindergarten prepared to flourish intellectually, socially and developmentally.
