Community
MCPK values the time and energy that new faces bring to the learning environment and offers a variety of ways to get involved. In addition to welcoming volunteer participation, MCPK strives to be a leading member of the community by supporting and partnering with local non-profit organizations and arts & cultural institutions whose presence enriches our lives.
At the MCPK we are committed to building and strengthening our families and the Montclair community by providing:
- A scholarship program that allows us to fulfill our mission to offer every child in Montclair a high-quality preschool education regardless of their family’s ability to pay tuition costs
- An outreach strategy to ensure that families in all four wards of Montclair are aware of and have access to the MCPK and our scholarship program
- Advocacy work with partners including the Montclair Community Council for Young Children (MCCYC), NAACP, Montclair Board of Education, United Way and the Montclair Preschool Directors Network (MPDN) to ensure that pre-k is a right, not a privilege, for Montclair’s’ youngest children
- The creation of an inclusive outdoor learning environment for Montclair’s youngest children to learn and grow through play
- Partnerships with community based organizations and businesses including Tony’s Kitchen, Scholastic Book Clubs, the Interfaith Network, Montclair Center BID, City Green, the YMCA, and Cornerstone Montclair to provide families with increased support and services
- The Family Network Center parent workshops on positive discipline, nutrition, health and safety
- Charitable projects including food, clothing and pajama drives and the book exchange program
