Spanish Language Exploration Program

The Montclair Community Pre-K Spanish Language Exploration Program (SLEP) offers children aged 3, 4 or 5 years old the opportunity to learn in both English and Spanish with teachers who are bilingual in English and Spanish.  This program utilizes the same child emergent educational model as our English-only program: learning through play and projects based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

Children do not need to have any experience with Spanish to participate in our SLEP classrooms. The program immerses the children in both English and Spanish (an approximate 50/50 split) throughout the school day with teacher support in both languages. The goal of our SEP classrooms is to provide a basic foundation of Spanish for children, while cultivating their interest in language and culture.
